Casio Oceanus T200 Japan Special Edition Review – Back to the Future

Oceanus is known to make blue, ocean-themed timepieces. Most of their watches are high-tech, intricate and expensive. Casio tend to bundle all of their most advanced technologies into this line, and critiques often cite their overly complicated design. The T200 is an attempt to prove the naysayers wrong. It’s an homage to simple 3-hand wrist watches, with modern materials and technologies.

The Casio Oceanus T200 Japan Special Edition is a unique piece, made in the world-famous Premium Production Lime in Yamagata, Japan. Each watch comes with a certificate such as this one:

Under broad daylight, the T200 Japan Special Edition transforms into a stunning, sparkling slab of blue stainless steel. The dial shows a subtle yet unmistakable gray sunburst effect that is most pleasant to the eye:

How is it?

In one word, fantastic. It’s a real treat to the eyes and the wrist. The gray sunburst dial, combined with the stainless steel case and those polished hour markers make it look just as comfortable as a dress watch or as a sports watch. One can wear it at home, at a wedding or at the office and it won’t be out of place anywhere. Upon closer inspection, people will notice its premium finish, and it’s only after a short conversation that people will realize that this thing is truly fully loaded with technology.

This is another one of those watches that you can simply wear right out of the box. You connect it to your smartphone, and the app does the rest. No Smartphone? No problem: the watch has multiband 6 capabilities and will sync to the nearest atomic clock.

Where to get it

If you’re lucky you’ll find one in certain JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) eBay shops. I compiled a listing HERE.
